Greetings!I am having problems running Deus Ex Invisible War on my Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series. It's by no means a beastly laptop, but it ran the first Deus Ex with absolutely no problems. I have owned it for about 2 years now and it still runs like new (except for the McAfee antivirus spam since I ran out). The game starts up, I am able to choose a character, and I spawn in my apartment, but some elements needed to progress are absent or not working.

For example, sometimes a character doesn't appear and thus I can't talk to them. Or sometimes I can't even interact with the holo computer to receive my first set of orders. Also worth noting, is that while the game starts engaging in some sort of loading screen, the game tab and the steam tab start taking turns maximizing over each other until the game finishes loading. And once I close the game, my resolution will change from full, to something like 800x300 or something.I am not very tech savvy at all, but I do know that the system requirements stated on steam are met and surpassed by my laptop. If anyone has any tips or solutions I would greatly appreciate them.Cheers!. Hey it's me again:TI downloaded the patch, and got it working.

I made sure it was working by changing the FOV, among other things. Nothing that would break the game (following the instructions of the VU Tweaker). But i ran into a problem (that I had been running into prior to getting the patch) where I spawn into my apartment, but right clicking the holocomm unit doesn't do anything.

I can pick things up such as the binoculars, basketball, pillow, trophy, chair, and interact with the data cube, so I know my right click works. Without interacting with the holocomm unit, I cannot receive orders from Nassif and I am trapped in my room. I've used the mousepad on my laptop along with a wireless mouse (both work perfectly as mentioned before), and nothing happens. Any help please? Thanks again.Cheers!. DE:IW doesn't play nice with Realtek, Logitech, and Nvidia background processes, particularly if they're related to keyboard and mouse input.

I suggest looking in your system tray for mouse and keyboard background programs and shutting them down. You'll need to do that every time you play the game.If that doesn't work, try using Task Manager to shut down any errant background processes from these programs. If that doesn't work, you could also try setting the game to run under the administrator account. Find the.exe for the game, probably in your 'C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonDeus Ex Invisible War' folder. Right-click on the.exe and select the checkbox for 'Run as Administrator.' (This is also the place to play around with compatibility, i.e., XP, Vista, or Windows 7.)All of this assumes you've installed the patch 'Visible Upgrade' that another user already posted the link for. If not, do that first. Always run the game using the Visible Upgrade launcher ( not the Visible Upgrade settings tweaker) rather than from Steam. If it still doesn't work, you might try setting the CPU affinity to run on only a single core.

The game was designed to run on single-core processors, but your Dell is multi-core. I think Visible Upgrade fixes that for you automatically, but I'm not certain.Once you get it working, you need to stick with the game for a while. It doesn't really feel like a Deus Ex game until about halfway through.Hope this helps!

A new unofficial patch has arrived for, bringing widescreen support and a few fixes to the game that I still think. I found Invisible War technically fiddly and sloppy when I replayed it a few years back, and it sounds like the patch by ‘snobel’ fixes most of my gripes. It supports modern aspect ratios, including for folks who tape a dozen screens together, has an adjustable field of view, and fixes a few bugs. Oh, and it includes an optional high-res texture pack. Good stuff! Some of the Visible Upgrade’s fixes have been possible before, through a combination of player-mode tools and, er, hex editing files, but having it all rolled into one simple update is grand. The Visible Upgrade also fixes problems with multicore CPUs and a few display glitches, speeds up level loading, gives options to tweak the HUD a little, and otherwise generally makes Invisible War nicer.Including is a nice touch too, making this pretty much the only download needed to modernise Invisible War.

I tend not to use texture packs myself but hey, perhaps you do.Swing by to download the Visible Upgrade, and do pay attention to the installation instructions.Ta to the reader in that there Visible Upgrade forum thread who says they sent us a tip; I saw it and I see you.
