One of the locations they are doing this is Neptune, and of course the Coalition will stop at nothing to wipe out any survivors. Thus the Coalition has been sending out hunter-killer squadrons, and you need to sweep the surrounding quadrants to find them.Your best choice for a fighter this mission is the Crusader. Load up a couple Screamer Pods, an extra Fuel Pod, and then the missile of your choice to fill up the remaining hardpoints. After making your first jump, you will meet up with Jake Tanner and his wing the Pumas. When a minute or two passes, you will receive a distress call from General Briggs, at which point you will jump out to attempt a rescue.

A mission editor is about to be released for download, so it seems like there will be more of a lasting appeal for those individuals who like to create their own scenarios. It seems that Chris and Erin Roberts have once again created another worthy space sim. I can't wait till the add-on is released. 16/20 12/15 26/30 18/20 4/5 9/10: Rating. Loco maniac nightcore. Immersive story line.

As soon as you arrive there will be a wing of enemy fighters, they will try to jump out the instant they see you, but you may be able to down one or two before they do. Once they jump out, the Coalition ship Antonov and a small wing of fighters will jump in.

The Antonov will try to capture the escape pod, and you must destroy it before it does. Ignore the fighter wing for now and punch it to the Antonov. The vessel has low armor and shields, so it won’t take much abuse from your lasers and Screamers to take it down. Once is it rubble turn your attention to the fighter wing. Try to conserve your Screamers for later in the mission, and go easy on the afterburners for now. Taking out the Antonov.Getting into formation.Once the fighter wing is destroyed, you will receive a distress call saying that a Coalition force is headed to an Alliance convoy, after which you will jump out to that location.

When the Formation Circles appear, fly into them to match speed with the convoy. Soon a wing of seven Coalition fighters will appear, and you will need to engage them to protect the convoy.

Do not worry about the regular fighters for the time being, instead turn your attention once again to the torpedo launchers. Get near the convoy and destroy each torpedo as you did in the previous mission. Again, don’t chase after them, but rather get near the target of the torpedoes and blast them as they come toward you or use locked-on missiles to shut them down. After the torpedoes are taken care of, take out the launchers (each torpedo launcher can hold four torpedoes). Then, turn your attention to the remaining fighter wing. Target locked on.The cruiser. When you have destroyed all Coalition fighters, Tanner will call for assistance from the next nav point.

Upon jumping in, you will find the Pumas engaged in a fierce battle with the Coalition cruiser Kirov and a fighter contingent totaling six. Ignore the cruiser and do not engage it, rather focus on eliminating the fighters.

Once they are done, another cruiser, the Zakov will jump in and launch eight more fighters. This is where you will be glad you conserved your missiles and afterburners earlier, as this wing of fighters is very fast and agile. Use your afterburner and missiles to take out the ships as fast as possible. When that is taken care of, the Alliance ship the ANS Yamato will jump in and destroy the two carriers.

You will then be able to return to the Reliant. In order to successfully complete the mission with the bonus, both cargo vessels in the convoy must survive and the Coalition collection vessel must not capture General Briggs. However, only one cargo vessel must survive for normal completion. For more information, including reviews and cheats, follow this link:.Text & Graphics by Jeremy ConradFor feedback or questions, e-mail IGNguides at:.
